Filling
If you go to a dentist regularly for dental checkups, you already know that your dentist looks out for cavities too. However, some patients come to us when their tooth/teeth are already decayed.
If the tooth structure (enamel & dentin) is damaged by decay, our dentists remove the decayed part and cover it up using dental fillings. Note that these fillings can be used to repair and preserve a slightly cracked or fractured tooth.
The filling is a completely painless restorative procedure. First, we apply anesthesia to the tooth. The tooth is then cleaned, and a composite (white filling) is placed and shaped to match the lost tooth structure. Lastly, the tooth is polished to achieve a smooth result.
Some common materials for filling purpose are;
- Metals
- Tooth-coloured filling
- Amalgam (black filling)
